SHORT INFO
In the works of Isabelle von Schilcher (*1983 in Hilden, lives in Hamburg), the unity of form and material is described in a new way using an old technique. Or better said. This is because von Schilcher uses drawings to create hermetically sealed surfaces on the objects and surfaces of the Drawings. When first encountering the works, the viewer must look very closely so as not to succumb to the deceptive unity of material and drawing and come to false conclusions about the materiality of the works. In strict lines, von Schilcher subjects the material to a condensing drawing. Fragility and stability, heaviness and lightness, darkness and brightness, reflection and grain are impressively combined, creating a field of tension that is difficult to escape.
Graduated from the Münster Art Academy as a master student of Prof. Henk Visch.
