SHORT INFO
Hartmut Böhm (* 1938 in Kassel, † December 26, 2021) was a German object artist. His work is characterized by its thematic stringency and the rare logic of its development over more than four decades. Böhm's works always owe their existence to a clear system based on mathematical and geometric principles that can be understood by the viewer at any time. The works achieve dynamic and sometimes confusing effects that are in a characteristic tension with the clarity of their structure. Böhm has shown his work in numerous solo exhibitions in Germany and abroad since the early 1960s. He has also participated in major international group exhibitions on constructive and kinetic art as well as light art.
