Boran Burchhardt

SHORT INFO

Boran Burchhardt was born in Hamburg in 1973.

He lives and works there. Scholarship holder of the Stiftung Kunstfonds Bonn, has realized several projects in public space. Burchhardt already caused a stir in 2009 with his project "May I paint your minaret?", when he declared the two 20-meter-high minarets of the Centrum Mosque in Hamburg to be sculptures and painted them with green and white hexagons in a spectacular campaign. In 2010, he received the mfi sponsorship award for art in construction projects. Between 2010 and 2013, Burchhardt realized the project 3D§87 Deutschlandbilder in the cities of Essen, Heidelberg and Hamburg. In 2012, he moved the symbolic center of Hamburg - the Alster fountain - for two weeks to the periphery of the south of Hamburg on the Außenmühlenteich in Hamburg-Harburg.

As part of his studio grant "Quartierskünstler auf der Veddel", Boran Burchhardt realized the hotly debated project Veddel vergolden in summer 2017. Galerie Mathias Güntner published a comprehensive publication in 2018.
