French artist Cécile Dupaquier's first solo exhibition at Galerie Mathias Güntner brings together wall sculptures made of various materials in combination with pencil drawings. Everything here revolves around the line: as a drawing on paper, as a wall relief, as a seam, joint or cast shadow.

Based on simple materials, which are also used in structural and civil engineering, Dupaquier's works are created through repetitive gestures and in layers. The possibilities of the material are questioned and explored, whether through bending, folding, filling or sanding. Her physically demanding way of working incorporates the "chance in the material" and is always based on a minimalist understanding of form.

The exhibition stages flowing movements between the works. It connects lines, jumps from one material to another - and follows a choreography of emptiness, light and shadow that is already inscribed in the individual works.

Cécile Dupaquier (*1970) also develops site-specific installations in dialog with the architecture of the respective exhibition space and conceives and realizes large-scale projects and public artworks in France, Germany and Switzerland. Most recently, Dupaquier won 1st prize in 2021 for an art in architecture project for the BKA, Berlin.
