Verena Schöttmer

Verena Schöttmer's work includes installations, sculptures and paintings. In her works, she combines manifestations of traditional arts and handcrafts with (pop) culture and social codes as well as scenes of human relationships. Schöttmer (*1978 in Meppen, lives in Hamburg) has been awarded numerous scholarships, including the Georg Meistermann Scholarship, Germany (2013-2015); the Scholarship of the Authority for Culture and Media, Hamburg (2014); the Scholarship of the Foundation Art Fund Germany (2020) and the Dorothea Erxleben Scholarship (2021-2023). She has exhibited nationally and internationally, including at Kunstverein Hamburg, Germany; Griffith's Arts Center, Canton, New York; Kunstverein im Weißen Haus, Vienna. Most recently she held an artist in residency at 18th Street Art Center Los Angeles.
